About Us
Northeastern Excursions is a blog based on the outdoors and all who choose to join us in our adventures. Our goal is to share our experiences with anyone willing to read about them, along with providing educational posts and information about popular outdoor activities. We are currently based mostly out of Mid-Coast Maine and Long Island, NY, however we're trying to explore areas all over the Northeastern United States. We hope you enjoy our blog, and we hope to see you out there on the trails!
How We Got Started:
We were composed of a group of friends and acquaintances, all with a passion for the natural world. We wanted to see it, be in it, experience everything it had to offer. Our first year attending Unity College, referred to as "America's Environmental College" and offering a number of programs geared toward the outdoors, we partook in the school's "NOVA" orientation program. This inevitably became the first trip we documented, camping for five days in Mount Blue State Park, Maine. From there we took other trips, branching out into canoe trips, scenic drives, and visiting various tourist sites.
In addition to our expeditions, I took part in Unity College's Primitive Skills Club. This led me to meet great people who were able to help me pass on their knowledge on the outdoors through this blog. From that point on, I decided to expand the blog to include educational segments, vowing to share anything I knew with my audience.
While we all work together on our trips, we each have individual skills and fields of interest. Some of us are involved with wildlife while others are studying park management. As a result, we share a wide spectrum of information with each other, and since this blog has no truly defined "members" the knowledge passed on in our excursions is limitless.
