Yosemite Decimal System
YDS Classes:
Class I:	Simple hikes/minimum danger
Class II:	Simple scrambling/use caution
Class III:	Moderate scrambling/possible rope use
Class IV:	Simple climbing/exposure/rope use
Class V:	Technical climbing/rope use/safety equipment required

YDS Grades:
Grade I:	Up to a couple of hours of climbing
Grade II:	A couple of hours to half a day of climbing
Grade III:	At least half a day of climbing
Grade IV:	At least a full day of climbing
Grade V:	At least two full days of climbing
Grade VI:	Two days to a week of climbing
Grade VII:	At least a week of climbing

YDS Rating (Protection)
G	"Good" protection for duration of the climb
PG	"Pretty Good" protection/few unprotected locations
R	"Runout" protection/few protected locations
X	No protection/dangerous conditions

M1	Simple climb/low angle/no tools required
M2	Simple climb/low angle/no tools required
M3	Simple climb/low angle/no tools required
M4	Fairly simple climb/low angle to verticle/possible tool use
M5	Moderate climb/verticle/some tool use
M6	Fairly moderate climb/verticle to overhang/tool use
M7	Difficult climb/overhang/powerful and technical dry tooling
M8	Difficult climb/horizontal overhang/powerful and technical dry tooling
M9	Difficult climb/continuous verticle to overhang/marginal to technical holds
M10	Difficult climb/at least 10 meters of horizontal overhang/no rests
M11	Difficult climb/overhang/up to 15 meters of roof
M12	Difficult climb/overhang/up to 15 meters of roof/technical holds
